Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo
The Arts Council promotes and supports the arts, arts organizations, and artists throughout greater Kalamazoo. They help to create connections within the community that bring people and resources together to encourage the growth of young artists. They network with various community organizations, including those in education, human services and economic development. The arts community in Kalamazoo always remains in the forefront of their dialogue.
I drew inspiration from their tagline “helping art blossom in Kalamazoo since 1966”. A blooming flower symbolizes growth and learning, something the Arts Council has promoted for more than a half century. The tip of the flower is paint dripping from the tip of a paint brush. Even though the Arts Council teaches everything from cinematography to dance, I believe painting as an art form that allows artists to express themselves in such vast and unique ways.
